Clik here to view. The City of Tyler and Mayor Barbara Bass recently planted approximately 100 trees on Tree Tyler Day, Saturday, January 19. Local volunteers met at Harvey Convention Center, 2000 W. Front St., at 10 a.m. and enjoyed a free breakfast from Einstein’s Bros Bagels before teaming up to plant trees at one of four locations throughout Tyler. The first 350 participants received a free Tree Tyler shirt.
Moreover, volunteers brought their own shovel and gloves and headed out to Faulkner Park, Lindsey Park, Woldert Park and Three Lakes Parkway.
The Tree Tyler Initiative is in its third year. Citizens have registered more than 4000 trees that
have been planted in the city limits. Tree Tyler Day gave the community an opportunity to come together and work towards reaching the Mayor’s goal of planting 5,000 trees in five years.
The major sponsor of Tree Tyler Initiative is the telecommunications giant, AT&T.
The company asserts that delivering technology means meeting and exceeding expectations in connecting customers and partnering on efforts for the environment.
Furthermore, at AT&T, delivering technology to customers means more than the latest smart phones or amazing applications. While the hyper competitive world of today’s wireless world drives constant efforts to go faster and better, astonishing accomplishments in improving the environment are being interwoven into every day behaviors at AT&T. The City of Tyler’s tree planting also combines the beautification of Tyler with environmental improvements, which comes with more oxygen-generating, carbon dioxide converting, planting of beautiful trees.
AT&T Regional Director couldn’t agree more.
“I am so pleased to live and work in Tyler where I grew up. Credit goes to Mayor Bass and everyone else involved in this project. AT&T is a proud partner to be a part of this,” said Candice Gast, AT&T’s Regional Director of External Affairs. “Everyone will enjoy the beauty of these trees, and everyone will benefit from their function in our environment. It’s an investment for our future,” Gast added. “This is why we work harder and smarter to incorporate improving the environment into our everyday business plans. Environmental awareness and connecting customers with their world go hand in hand.”
